Snowy Weekends, Slow Mornings, and Phil Was Right

Hi there Reader!

Last week I mentioned that we were suddenly down to one child at home for a few days, and the house felt very different, however still entertaining with Maddie! Before the boys made their way back home, we decided to take a small trip to Punxsutawney to see Phil just before his big debut. It was incredibly cold, the kind of cold that makes you question your decisions the moment you step outside, but we had such a good time anyway. There is something fun about leaning into these little traditions, even when your eyelashes and nose hair starts to freeze!

Now the boys are home safe, the house is full again, and we have settled in for another snowy weekend. Phil’s prediction is looking pretty accurate so far, and honestly, we are not complaining. This time of year feels made for warm kitchens, slow mornings, and recipes that make the whole house feel cozy. The snow is literally forcing me to slow down, and truthfully, I’m one of those people who needs that reminder the most.

I shared a reel from our trip over on Instagram if you would like to see it.
If you are on Facebook, you can follow the link to my reels, it should be the top one.

And since cold weekends always seem to call for something good baking in the oven, here are a few favorites we have been enjoying lately.

Buttery Sourdough Croissant Bread Recipe
This loaf brings together the flavor of sourdough with soft, buttery layers inspired by classic croissants. It bakes up with a golden crust and a tender interior that is perfect for family breakfasts, toasted slices with butter, or even sandwiches. It feels special without being complicated, which makes it one of those recipes you come back to again and again.

Sourdough Lemon Blueberry Muffins (With Lemon Glaze)
Bright lemon and sweet blueberries make these muffins feel like a little bit of sunshine in the middle of winter. The sourdough adds depth of flavor while keeping the crumb soft and moist, and the simple lemon glaze adds just enough sweetness. They are easy to make ahead and perfect with a hot cup of coffee on a snowy morning.

The Best Cinnamon Raisin Sweet Sourdough Bread Recipe
This is the kind of bread that fills the kitchen with the smell of cinnamon while it bakes. Soft, lightly sweet, and packed with raisins, it makes wonderful toast and even better French toast the next day. It is a comforting, old-fashioned loaf that feels right at home during the colder months.

Homemade Face Scrub With Tallow (Gentle Sugar Exfoliator for Glowing Skin)
Winter weather can be hard on skin, and this simple face scrub is a gentle way to bring back softness without harsh ingredients. Made with nourishing tallow and simple pantry staples, it reflects the kind of traditional care that has been used for generations. It is an easy way to add a little extra care to your routine this time of year.

I hope you are staying warm wherever you are and finding a little comfort in good food and simple routines.

If you try any of these recipes, I would love to see them. Tag me on Instagram so I can share your creations!

Warmly,
Stephanie
