Easter Recipes I’m Planning for This Year

Good morning Reader!

Easter is only two weeks away, and I have already been thinking about what I want to make for breakfast and for our meal. If you are planning ahead too, I wanted to send a few of my favorite Easter-worthy recipes that feel both beautiful and practical this time of year.

Braided Apple Cream Cheese Puff Pastry Danish
Old-Fashioned Strawberry Danish Pastry Using Homemade Puff Pastry
Sourdough Panettone Recipe (Traditional Italian Sweet Bread)
Soft Wheat Dinner Rolls (Made with Whole Wheat Flour)
Sourdough Puff Pastry Recipe
Traditional Homemade Puff Pastry Recipe
Buttery Sourdough Croissant Bread Recipe

If I had to choose one recipe to make first for Easter morning, it would probably be my Braided Apple Cream Cheese Puff Pastry Danish. It is absolutely beautiful on the table, and it feels a little extra special for a holiday breakfast. One of my favorite things about this recipe is that I give both options for the cream cheese filling, whether you want it a little softer and runnier or more firm for a classic danish-style slice. It is wonderful on its own, but served warm with Best Homemade French Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Recipe, it becomes something truly special!

Another lovely option for Easter is my Old-Fashioned Strawberry Danish Pastry Using Homemade Puff Pastry. It has that bright spring feel that is so perfect this time of year, and it is a beautiful recipe to set out for a holiday breakfast or brunch.

I also keep going back and forth on making Sourdough Panettone Recipe (Traditional Italian Sweet Bread) too, because it has that sweet bread feel that makes Easter breakfast feel especially festive. It is such a lovely recipe for anyone who wants something a little more traditional and bakery-style for the holiday.

For the meal itself, I think Soft Wheat Dinner Rolls (Made with Whole Wheat Flour) are one of the best choices. We love these made with milled wheat, but they can also be made with whole wheat flour, which makes them really helpful for different kitchens and pantry setups. They are soft, simple, and perfect alongside Easter dinner.

And if you want a few extra recipes to keep in mind, I also shared my Sourdough Puff Pastry Recipe, Traditional Homemade Puff Pastry Recipe, and Buttery Sourdough Croissant Bread Recipe. I have mentioned these in recent emails, so I did not want to make them the star again, but they are still wonderful recipes to have on hand if you are planning a homemade Easter spread.

I may end up making both the apple danish and the panettone because I honestly do not know if I can choose just one. 🤪

Are you making a special Easter breakfast this year, or are you more of a brunch or dinner person? Hit reply and let me know! I always love hearing what you are making.

If you try any of these recipes, I would love to see them. Tag me on Instagram so I can share your creations!

Happy baking,

Stephanie

Hi there Reader! Spring is almost here, and I always start thinking about strawberries this time of year. Even before the first berries show up at the farm stands, the thought of strawberry shortcake, homemade jam, and warm cobbler feels like the start of a new season in the kitchen. There is something about strawberries that simply tastes like spring. Strawberry shortcake has always been my favorite way to welcome spring! So today I’m sharing four of our favorite strawberry recipes, from...

Good morning Reader! We will be attending the maple festival this weekend in the Laurel Highlands, and you could not ask for better weather for it. Late spring temperatures have settled in around here, with a high of 74° expected! After a long stretch of cold mornings, sunshine like this feels like a gift. With the smell of maple in the air across a large part of the country right now, I thought it would be fitting to share a few breakfast recipes that pair perfectly with this time of year....

Good morning Reader! It’s February 28th, and I’m sitting outside on our patio writing this email in the sunshine. That alone feels like a small gift. The air has that almost-spring softness to it, and everything around here is starting to act like winter is packing up. The turkeys have started mating. The hens are getting broody.Even the barn feels restless in that familiar way. And I can’t help but think… maybe spring is coming early this year. Maybe Phil was wrong. I don’t know about you,...
