Broody hens and strawberry jam! 🍓

Good morning Reader!

It’s February 28th, and I’m sitting outside on our patio writing this email in the sunshine. That alone feels like a small gift. The air has that almost-spring softness to it, and everything around here is starting to act like winter is packing up.

The turkeys have started mating.
The hens are getting broody.
Even the barn feels restless in that familiar way.

And I can’t help but think… maybe spring is coming early this year. Maybe Phil was wrong. I don’t know about you, but I trust my animals more than a groundhog!

With these spring-like temperatures on the horizon, we’ve already started reaching for some of our warm-weather favorites. The recipes that feel lighter, brighter, and just a little bit hopeful.

Easy Milled Wheat Strawberry Sourdough Quick Bread has been on repeat lately. It’s simple, slightly sweet, and tastes like the first hint of berry season.

And of course, Classic Homemade Strawberry Jam Without Pectin. There is just something about homemade jam this time of year. We’ve been spreading it on Buttery Sourdough Croissant Bread with a pat of homemade butter made from raw milk. I know I’ve shared that recipe before, but once you start making it, it’s hard to stop!

For slow weekend mornings, The Best Sourdough Discard Scones with Mixed Berries are still a favorite. Warm from the oven with a honey glaze on top, they feel like a gentle nudge toward spring.

I hope your first week of March is filled with a touch of sunshine, a little fresh air, and maybe something homemade on the table.

Spring is coming. I can feel it!
