Zucchini bread, cowboy candy, and pulled pork

Hey there Reader!

It may still feel a little early, but this is the time of year I start thinking about zucchini recipes.

Once the plants start producing, they do not slow down, and it is always good to have a few recipes ready before the zucchini starts piling up on the counter.

This sourdough zucchini bread is a good one to keep handy:

The Best Sourdough Zucchini Bread Discard Recipe

It is soft, simple, and a great way to use both zucchini and sourdough discard in one recipe. I recently saw Barbara O’Neill mention that smaller zucchini may be more nutrient dense. I don’t know for sure, but it can’t hurt to try and they are usually more tender and not as tough or seedy anyway. So this year I’m trying to pick them before they turn into baseball bats. Which I definitely have earned that reputation! 😂

And speaking of sourdough discard, these cinnamon rolls are in the oven as I write this:

They are a good option when you want cinnamon rolls without waiting all day. They are soft, warm, and perfect for a weekend breakfast or afternoon treat.

I also wanted to share one of our favorite ways to use jalapeños:

Easy Cowboy Candy Recipe, Sweet & Spicy Candied Jalapeños

We love cowboy candy on sourdough crackers with cream cheese. It is sweet, spicy, tangy, and one of those little extras that is so good to keep in the fridge.

For something savory this week, this pulled pork is a must try recipe!

Easy Best Slow Smoked Pulled Pork Butt Recipe

This is a great recipe for summer weekends, especially if you want something that can feed a family or give you leftovers for a few days. Pulled pork is good on sandwiches, with rolls, tucked into tacos, or served with simple sides from the garden.

I always use this rub for it:

It gives the pork such good flavor and is easy to mix up ahead of time.

So whether you are getting ready for zucchini season, making a batch of cowboy candy, baking with sourdough discard, or firing up the smoker, I hope this gives you a few ideas for the week.

Hey Reader! If you read about our skid steer fiasco a few weeks ago and thought that was entertaining, well, apparently we like providing ongoing entertainment over here. Hey there Reader! I was debating whether or not to jump into back-to-school recipes this week, but I think I am going to save those for next week. For now, it still feels like we are right in that late-summer season where peaches are everywhere, the garden is still giving, and there are plenty of little kitchen projects to keep up with. So this week I wanted to share a few recipes that fit right now. Low Sugar Peach Jam Recipe Without Pectin If you are finding peaches at the farmers market or...
